School Council
Welcome to St Gregory's Catholic Academy Council Page.
The school council is a group of children who represent their peers and bring forward their views to improve the school and its grounds. The members of the school council are two pupils from each class from Years 1-6 . The school council has been running since 2005 and our achievements have grown each year. Previously, we developed our first 'School Council Charter' so we ensure we deliver on our responsibilities as school leaders.
SCHOOL COUNCIL CHARTER
-
Be a good listener; speak up for your class
-
Be a reliable role model; follow the school Respect Rules
-
Be a confident communicator; take away the right message
-
Be a creative problem solver; consider different solutions
-
Be brave; talk honestly about the issue
At the meetings, we decide what we can do to improve the school. We don’t just decide ourselves what to do, our class peers put their ideas down too through questionnaires and class/peer discussions.
To decide on the class representative we hold a class election in September, we also nominate a new Chair Person each year.
The School Council continue to meet every fortnight and have already had a huge impact on decision-making this year.
Decisions such as the decoration and design of the dining room, sandwich area, corridor displays, entrance and libraries
Several meetings have also focused on road safety and the parking signs for outside of school
The School Council have also written the Pupil Leadership boards, which incorporates the Mission of the school
The Head Girl and Spiritual Leader in Year 6 represented St Gregory’s at the Combined Schools Mass.
How to improve health and wellbeing for children within the school and improving playtimes (creating our own playground rules).
Our new priorities are displayed within our school corridors (see above)
