All children in Year 2 and Key Stage 2 have timetabled lessons in French. During these lessons children learn to speak basic french which they will be able to use to broaden their understanding of other cultures. A variety of interactive resources are used to make lessons stimulating and enjoyable.

All children in Key Stage 2 have timetabled lessons in both French and Spanish. These lessons are delivered by St Thomas More Catholic Academy, which is part of our multi-academy. During these lessons, children learn to speak basic French and Spanish which they will be able to use to broaden their understanding of other cultures. A variety of interactive resources are used to make these lessons enjoyable and stimulating. This supports our Year 6 pupils ready for when they attend high school and their annual trip to France. French is also promoted in EYFS and Key Stage 1 through key vocabulary such as hello and goodbye, counting and colours.

Spanish clubs are provided for children in both Key Stages 1 and 2 to explore language further and to extend their vocabulary. A Spanish Holiday Club is held every summer term for both parents and children to learn basic vocabulary/phrases together.
